Frequently asked questions
Selling or part exchanging your watch with Watchfinder couldn’t be easier. Once you have submitted an initial enquiry telling us the make and model of your watch, we will send you an estimate within 48 hours. We’ll then collect your watch for free at your convenience with our free home collection service. We’ll even send you the packaging. You can then send us your watch, or drop it off at select nationwide locations, and after an inspection at our brand-accredited service centre, we will issue you a final offer. If you’re happy with this, we will transfer the money into your account by BACs in 5 days if you're selling, or complete your order and dispatch your new watch if you're part exchanging.

Although you don’t need to have the box and papers to sell us your watch, their absence can affect the value. Proof of purchase will be required if you do not have the box and papers.
Once you have accepted the final offer, we will transfer the money into your account by BACs in 2-3 working days.
As well as having the largest independent brand-accredited service centre in the UK, we also offer the widest selection of premium pre-owned watches nationwide. This allows us to offer you the most competitive quotes for your luxury timepiece.
You can check the status of your enquiry at any time by logging in to your account page. As soon as your watch has been received and booked in, your account will be updated.
If you’re looking to upgrade to a different watch, you can use your current timepiece in part exchange in one simple transaction.
If you have any further queries regarding your existing enquiry, please or call us on +44 1622621392.
Our consignment offer means we will sell your watch on your behalf and you will be paid the sales price, minus a fixed commission fee and the cost of any servicing work that's required to prepare your watch for sale.
- Authentication & Inspection
Your watch will be meticulously inspected and authenticated by our highly trained, manufacturer-certified service centre team. We will provide you with a summary of the servicing work required to prepare your watch for sale.
- Preparation & Publishing
Our expert watchmakers will complete the required servicing work and your watch will be photographed by our specialist photographers, after which your watch will be published on our website at the agreed initial sale price.
- Sale & Payment
Once your watch has been sold, you will receive payment (minus the cost of servicing work and our fixed commission fee) within 30 days.
We’ll collect this information only once the consignment watch has been sold, and are required to share this information with HMRC.
Please note, this requirement does not apply if you are selling a watch outright.
You can find more information about this legislation on .gov.uk.
If you’re happy with our initial quote, you’ll need to send us your watch for inspection, testing and authentication. After careful examination, our expert team will advise you if any servicing work is required to meet Watchfinder’s standards for resale. Depending on the work needed, this might mean we’ll deduct a servicing fee. We’ll confirm this in your final offer.
Servicing fees are exempt when you part-exchange your watch with us, unless we need to send your watch to a manufacturer for repairs or replacement parts are required to complete the repairs at our service centre.
Servicing fees are also exempt when you part-exchange your watch with us, unless external parts and/or repairs are required.
When you send your watch to us for inspection and authentication it will undergo a rigorous testing process by our expert manufacturer-accredited service centre team. We use manufacturer-approved tools and equipment to assess the condition, accuracy, efficiency and water-resistance of your watch. We’ll then determine what work may be required to ensure it meets industry-standard specifications.
If our inspection finds that the watch requires some general repair and maintenance alongside our standard processing—for example a minor timing adjustment that can be resolved through a regulation—the final servicing fee will be £150.
If our inspection confirms that the watch will require more extensive work—for example a skilled watchmaker needing to complete a service of the watch—the servicing fee will be £300.
Sometimes parts are needed to complete the work our inspection confirms is required, or we need to send the watch to an external manufacturer to complete this work. In such cases, your final servicing fee will be determined by the cost of the parts required or the cost we expect to be charged by the external manufacturer. We’ll confirm this in your purchase order.
Your initial quote is valid for up to 7 days.
If you’re happy with your initial quote, you’ll need to send us your watch for inspection and authentication. To do this, you can use our fully insured home collection service or drop your watch off at any of our boutique locations. You’ll also need to print your postal slip and include this with your watch.
Your watch needs to arrive with us for inspection within 7 days of your confirmation if you wish to proceed.
Your final offer is valid for up to 5 days.
Please note that if your quote expires at any stage of the process, you’ll be able to request an updated quote. However, it’s possible our offer will change or that we may not wish to continue with your sale.
If you choose not to proceed with your final offer, please select the option to retrieve your watch on your purchase order in My Account. Then contact a member of the Purchasing Team on +44 1622621392 or email us at purchasing@watchfinder.co.uk and we’ll arrange the return of your watch.
We typically require 48 hours to arrange this and your watch will be sent via our fully insured, secure courier service. You’ll also receive a link so that you can track the return of your package.
