Feature: 5 BARGAIN Bronze Watches
Bronze is a precious metal that has been in use for thousands of years but today it’s a material that seems to be overshadowed by the likes of gold, silver and platinum but that doesn’t mean it should be pushed aside altogether. With this in mind, we’ve dug out five brilliant bronze timepieces fit for a tight budget.
TAG Heuer Autavia WBE5191.FC8276
Like many bronze watches, this TAG Heuer flaunts a vintage-inspired charm that makes it look like it has emerged from a long-forgotten time capsule—and that’s exactly why we like it. Thankfully, though, this TAG features up-to-date functions such as a date window at 6 o’clock and the ceramic bidirectional bezel, plus it was only released one year ago in 2021, making it a newbie indeed.
Oris Classic Carl Brashear 01 401 7764 3185-SET
Oris is a watchmaker that creates great pieces at affordable prices—by luxury standards that is—and this bronze and blue number from its Classic line is one of them. Created to celebrate the career of Carl Brashear and his service in the US Navy, the rich hues from the bronze case and blue dial and NATO strap make this a unique offering from Oris—oh, and so does its limited edition run of just 2,000 units.
Longines Legend Diver L3.774.1.50.2
The Legend Diver is one of Longines’ most beloved lines, just take one look at this piece and it’s easy to see why, with a gorgeous deep-green gradient dial and NATO strap, that once paired with the bronze case and strap buckle, will prove difficult to forget. This Legend Diver would make a perfect everyday watch, one that provides something a little different colour-wise.
U-Boat Darkmoon 8467
Having created some distinctive watches in its time, U-Boat is a brand that certainly divides opinion and this piece from its Darkmoon selection may be one of them. Featuring a bubble-look dial that’s made with the use of oil inside to create the optical effect, this is a pretty unique watch. The black dial is offset by the bronze of the hour markers and hands, as well as the case and the laser-cut brown leather strap. What’s more, this is the cheapest watch on our list, costing under £1,000.
Montblanc 1858 119908
Montblanc’s 1858 collection has proved to be one of its most popular lines with its vintage-inspired charm. This limited-edition watch of just—you guessed it—1,858 pieces is inspired by the original 1920s Minerva watches, as well as mountaineering and the spirit of exploration. Flaunting yet another green and bronze colourway, this Montblanc has two sub dials at 3 and 9 o’clock, as well as two chronograph pushers, making this piece striking and functional—it’s a win-win.
